Biome is a trust network for Indonesian UMKM suppliers and resellers. A supplier's role — Producer, Importer, Brand Owner, Distributor, or Wholesaler — only appears once its evidence has been checked. Resellers can see a track record before transferring money, and both sides get an order record neither can fake while still talking on WhatsApp.
Trade between Indonesian suppliers and resellers runs on social media and WhatsApp. The path is fast, but it leaves one problem unsolved: nobody verifies who is on the other side of the screen. Biome was built for that missing part — trust built from evidence, not words.
The problem Biome solves
Anyone can write producer or first-hand in a bio, including people who actually buy from someone else. Supplier information is scattered across Threads, TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Resellers are afraid to transfer money to someone they have never met, while suppliers struggle to prove themselves and answer the same questions over and over.
How Biome works
- A supplier registers and submits evidence: the person in charge's identity, business legality, product documents, and so on.
- The evidence is checked. The business role — Producer, Importer, Brand Owner, Distributor, or Wholesaler — only appears once that role's required evidence passes.
- A reseller finds the profile at biome.id/name, reads the badges and track record, then contacts the supplier through the WhatsApp button.
- Negotiation still happens on WhatsApp. The supplier sends an invoice or PO link inside the chat, so the price, MOQ, and timeline agreed are recorded.
- Recorded orders update both sides' track records — suppliers and resellers are both rated.
Verification is not the track record
These two are deliberately displayed separately. Verification proves the business exists and its role is real. The track record proves how the business behaves: completed orders, on-time payments, disputes that occurred. Orders count in full only when linked to payment or shipment proof; self-reported orders are labeled and weighted lower.
What is free, what comes later
Supplier profiles and search are free today. Later, a verification fee will cover the cost of checking — not buy the outcome — and a supplier tools subscription is being considered. A transaction fee would only exist with protected payments through a licensed partner. These numbers are still hypotheses being tested with early users.
Who Biome is for
UMKM suppliers who already post open-reseller offers and want their claims to be believable, and resellers who restock regularly and need a way to sort suppliers who truly match their claims. End buyers do not interact with Biome.
Frequently asked questions
Does Biome replace WhatsApp?
No. Conversation and negotiation still happen on WhatsApp. Biome keeps the records born from that conversation: invoices or POs, order statuses, and track records.
Are all suppliers on Biome verified?
No. Profiles that have not completed verification still appear with an honest status. Badges appear only for evidence that has been checked and passed.
